FB-META-WEAREMETA REBRANDING BY NFT CRITICS
Facebook announced a massive rebrand, including adjusting its corporate title to Meta — but it hasn’t got the @meta handle on Instagram initially despite owning the platform. Instead, @meta belonged to a Denver-based motorbike publication, as Quartz notified. Facebook has proclaimed the @wearemeta handle on Instagram, which has gained 1 million followers in a couple of days. The account has posted content until 19 November 2021 as @wearemeta.
Facebook has owned the @meta handle on Twitter and the domain meta.com without an issue.
Under the rebrand, Facebook’s main social-media app was Facebook, but the parent company that owns it will be called Meta Platforms, or Meta for short. Other apps and products it owns, including Workplace, Instagram, and WhatsApp, will come under the new brand.
Facebook initially said its stock would begin trading under the ticker symbol MVRS, but that hasn’t stopped shares for Metamaterials, a Canadian materials-technology company trading under MMAT, soaring after Facebook’s new name was announced.
Zuckerberg unveiled the rebrand as he announced he was shifting the company’s direction towards creating a metaverse, a virtual space where individuals interact digitally, exploiting avatars and virtual reality.
“Starting now, we are going to be Metaverse first, not Facebook first,” Zuckerberg said in October 2021.
It hardly took a month for Mark Zuckerberg to claim his user and domain names!
This fact might not surprise you that all the platforms of Meta finally earned their usernames to the actual brand of Meta. Mark Zuckerberg’s meta company finally managed to convince the Denver-based motorbike publication called Meta, which was initially talked about in this blog. As a result, they’ve rebranded themselves and used domains and usernames as readmeta. It would have been a massive loss point if this didn’t happen. Phew, the stock market is now right in place, and Meta has a complete stop for their plan-B of rebranding their handles.
